Furniture Medic is proud to announce their new location at 2701 Ivy Street, off San Casa, in Englewood. This new shop, office and storage facility is a dream come true for the Dream Polishers. The shop has more space for furniture and now the addition of a commercial spray booth has allowed them to offer more finishing possibilities. The three owners, Jack, Troy and LaDonna, have been settling in and are excited with all the new arrangements and space.

If you have thought about refinishing or repairing a piece of furniture, stop by and take a look at their new facility. While you are there, you will be treated to their expertise and knowledge. They will answer any questions you may have about what is possible for your piece of furniture. Some pieces don’t need to be completely refinished; spot repairs or top refinishing might be just enough. Furniture Medic’s helpful staff is always willing to work with the “do it yourselfer!”

Along with stripping and refinishing, Furniture Medic offers a variety of services. Repairs of plaster, metal, wood and ceramic objects are also offered. Sometimes recoloring a piece will fit your lifestyle more than replacing it, and with the commercial spray booth, a professional paint finish can be achieved. Consultation regarding furniture modifications is also available.

Maybe you have some chairs in need of attention. Broken legs, backs and casters are a specialty along with caning, rush and danish cord replacement. The Boca Grande Lighthouse Museum has entrusted Furniture Medic to repair and restore four 200-year-old rocking chairs that belonged to early residents of the island. Donating their time and materials, Furniture Medic is bringing the chairs back from the ravages of termites, rot and decay. Certain parts were beyond repair and required adding new rockers and chair rails to match the original. With the addition of the new woven oval reed seats, and a coat of green paint, these rockers will become a proud part of the museum.

Pick-up and delivery service is available, but if you are able to bring in and pick up the piece yourself, you will not only get a discount on the service, your piece will be brought right into the shop and you will have a quicker turn around time. Some unmovable pieces, built-ins and kitchen cabinets must be refinished on-site. This is not a problem for Furniture Medic. They will take the removable parts back to their shop and, with their partnership with RC Refinishing, Inc., unmovable pieces will be stripped and refinished in place.

This 8-foot table was finished in the new
16-foot spray booth.

Furniture Medic has a passion for furniture, a love for wood, and their professional services will allow you to enjoy your wood furnishings for years to come. They advise, “If you have a real wood piece, keep it!”
